GENDER TRANSFORMATIONAL LEARNING AND LEADERSHIP
IST equips women, men, and youth with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to challenge gender inequalities and drive positive social change in their communities. Using participatory methodologies such as Training for Transformation (TfT) and the Gender Action and Learning System (GALs), IST facilitates deep reflection on gender roles, power relations, and shared responsibilities, enabling individuals and families to make more equitable decisions.
The organization nurtures transformative leadership by mentoring women and youth to take on leadership positions in cooperatives, markets, and local governance structures, ensuring their voices shape policies and community development. IST also conducts capacity-building trainings in areas such as communication, advocacy, and negotiation, fostering leaders who can influence systems and champion gender equality at multiple levels.
Through this approach, IST promotes inclusive, resilient, and gender-responsive communities where women and men work together as partners in transformation.
