The women and young people in the markets have been made aware of their rights. They know them, they can defend them and they demand that they be observed.

To this extent, IST has trained over 3000market women entrepreneurs in transformational leadership and organizing into associations and groups to collectivize their voice and participate in market decision making processes.

Thus they are reclaiming their identity with pride, and conviction derived from the fact that they now know their worth and how they contribute to the economy of Uganda.

To elevate their voice, the women have been organized under the National Market Women Symposium a National platform that brings together women from across the country to share experiences, build networks for women entrepreneurs to create more business opportunities and meet stake holders to front their issues for action and unveiled their importance in the economy. The symposium has also attracts policy makers, government officials, partners, civil society players and the media fraternity who are brought together to celebrate the power and contribution of market women to the economy.

The women also use the media to advocate for their rights and to ensure that issues that affect them are put high on the media agenda.
